Honored To Be Chosen as a Distinguished Alumna of the Year

On May 19, 2023, I was honored to be chosen as a Distinguished Alumna at my high school alma mater, the Academy of the Holy Cross, in Kensington, Maryland for “having lived the Holy Cross mission of courage, compassion and scholarship in her personal life and career.” My close friend and fellow alumna, Cindy Sellers O’Brien, brought tears to my eyes with her introduction of me to those gathered in the theater. The friends I made at Holy Cross remain my closest friends more than 40 years later!

I believe strongly in the importance of an all-female education. The smartest students I knew as a high school teen and the best athletes were all young women. I left Holy Cross confident that I could succeed as a woman.

Grateful for the friends and relatives who attended the award ceremony, and for the many gifts in my life. Also grateful for my name being on the Distinguished Alumnae plaque outside the Academy’s theater now, which was a surprise!

My bio, from the Award Ceremony’s program.

Some alumnae who came to the event to support me!

Humbled to be on stage with such accomplished women.
